Goodbye Mio

Two weeks after a visit to the vet for his annual check-up, Mio passed away at the end of January. The vet had found he had a heart murmur and told us what to watch for; coughing and rapid weight loss.

He had been slowly losing weight over the past few months, but not drastically and with no other signs of distress. He was still my cuddle cat and hadn't stopped eating or drinking. He was always the cat who would climb up on me whenever I wasn't feeling good, either physically or mentally.  He would curl up on my chest (or as close as he could get) and just purr.

Over the course of a weekend, he declined rapidly. We did what we could to keep him comfortable and as hydrated as possible. And on Monday he passed away.

We had to put his body in the garage overnight to keep him cold before taking him to be cremated. He is now home with us and his brother.
